Octavian sends Marcus Antonius Antyllus to his death on this episode of This Day In History.
On this episode of This Day In History, Armand is joined by his longtime friend Everett to discuss Octavian’s execution of Marc Antony’s oldest son, Marcus Antonius Antyllus.
In 30 BC, Octavian, not long after the suicides of Antony and Cleopatra, ordered the beheading of Antyllus. Marcus was the only son of Antony’s to be executed and the remainder of his kin were raised by Antony’s wife, Octavia Minor.
Plus, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius leads to the destruction of Pompeii in the year 79, William Wallace is executed after his refusal to submit to English rule in 1305, and River Phoenix is born on this day in 1970.
