Chicago is left in ashes on this episode of This Day In History!
On this episode of This Day In History, Tony and Armand tell us about the Chicago Fire of 1871, also known as the Great Chicago Fire. On this day 146 years ago, Chicago is changed forever after a fire burns through the city for roughly two days. The exact cause of the fire has never been determined, but as you’ll hear Armand say, he doesn’t buy the theory of Mrs. O’Leary’s cow knocking over a lantern.
On this day in 1967, the Outer Space Treaty comes into force which bans all nations involved from placing nuclear arms on and from claiming sovereignty over celestial bodies. Also on this day, we say happy birthday to Brett Favre (48 years old) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (43 years old).
